The Turning Path

I left a House of Heavy Air—
Its windows dim, its doors ajar—
Where sweetness cloyed and shadows played,
And every step my will delayed.

A softer light began to rise,
Beyond the haze that veiled my skies.
The table set with purer fare,
A feast of breath, untainted air.

I traded weights for wings instead,
A lighter soul, a clearer head.
The path that whispered once of ease,
Now sings of strength, and steady seas.

Though echoes call from yonder door,
I’ve heard their tune, I’ll hear no more.
The open road, the brighter day—
Invite my heart, and there I stay.
